TRANSPORT PAPER MODELLING TIPS AND TRICKS

Please scroll down.

Paper

These models can be printed onto thin card of around 100-150gsm weight, but for the crispest results I recommend the use of photo paper of a similar weight. Glossy or silk paper can be used for vehicles, while matte is best for buildings.

Scaling

When printed at 100%, my vehicle and building models are all OO-scale (1/76th), but if you want them at HO scale, just print the files at 87%. This will depend on your printer settings but here is an example of how to do it.
The tram and narrow-gauge train models are all HO scale already.

Modelling tips

I have prepared a document giving some of my modelling hints - download it here.

Lorry, Van and Car wheels

These can be a nightmare to cut out of paper. I often use curved nail scissors, snipping away a bit at a time. Anyway, to help you out, I've uploaded a few sets of spares: Like these car wheels, van wheels and lorry wheel parts.
You can print these pages out to practise and as spares for your models. (Click to download)

Another way of cutting out the parts for the lorry wheels is to use a set of hollow punches like these:
It's not easy to get the punch positioned precisely on the part so I have a page of multiple parts that I use to punch out a lot, then choose those which are good for the model. You can get a copy of this page (for 13.8mm dia. lorry wheels) here. (Click the Pic!)
